Music has always been my passion, and now having reached my 50's, I am well equipped with experience to do this.
Some highlights have been.
- Playing in the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra at age 13. I recall a Conductor saying "I can see what is happening in the music by looking at your face"
- Performing as a Flautist for many Charity Concerts
- Freelance Flautist with Cellist Diane Friend, particularly at an Art Exhibition for Pro Hart in Brisbane
- Honing my skill as a Classroom Music Specialist.
- Chamber Music - I love the sense of musical conversation and aural merging.
- Playing piano at a simple small evening party and my 'audience' noticeably relaxing. My music had 'reached' them
- At Queensland Conservatorium of Music, achieving Bachelor of Arts in Music (an academic music degree) as a mature age student -in particular the extra year of Composing.
- Learning from teachers Lucy Howard, James Carson, Louise Dellit, Margaret Crawford, Gerhard Mallon, Jocelyn Fazzone, Nina Perlove, Enid Lane, Bill Murray
- Experience of working toward my A Mus A Diploma in Flute - it was exhilarating & satisfying when I became able to play at that advanced level
- Being Commissioned to write music, then creating the music and it being Premiered in Brisbane City Hall.
- Coaching groups of adults in ensemble playing and hearing/seeing how it is improving their confidence, skill and quality of life
- Seeing their "aha!!!" when my student understands
- Knowing that my work is making a difference in our society even in a small way
